Pablo Picasso was a lot more than an artist. He was a sculptor, ceramic artist, print maker, etching artist, and a writer. But vitally, he was the man behind the style of Cubism.

Artists today would not have been cognized with the unprecedented art style of cubism had Picasso not executed his marvelous skills. Cubism was a ground-breaking art style as it eradicated the concept of perspective in paintings and rather dealt with interlocked planes, lines and shapes. It was worked upon by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque in Paris for eight years (1907-1914). Picasso’s work in Cubism is still placed at the epitome of the given art style.

Cardboard

‘Cardboard’ is another artwork in cubism. It was composed as a tribute to the late artist. The artwork depicts a cardboard box as the bearer of uncountable and unparalleled memories. The interpretation of the kind of those memories is left on the perception of the viewer. The artwork is composed with ink pencils and consists of unmatched shades, carefully rendered to depict the memories, assorted in nature.

The fact that ‘Cardboard’ partially incorporates abstraction, distinguishes it from Picasso’s work in cubism. His works in cubism like ‘The Accordionist’ inclined towards abstraction against realism. Although few of his works like ‘Portrait of Pablo Picasso’ consisted of relatively concrete figures, yet weighed more towards abstraction.
